Prince William recognizes Kate’s work during visit to Sheffield homelessness project

The Prince of Wales spoke of his wife’s expertise during a visit to a homeless project in Sheffield.

When council chief executive Kate Josephs broached the topic of childhood, William was quick to comment on the success of Kate’s early years programme.

He held out his palm, smiled and said, “We are venturing into my wife’s territory. She needs to sit here and listen to this.”

His comments come as Kate continues to recover. Abdominal surgery in JanuaryBuckingham Palace said she would not return to public duties until after Easter.

Her extended absence sparked speculation on social media, while a Mother’s Day photo of her with her three children didn’t help matters, sparking controversy after it emerged it had been edited.

William had hoped to put all that aside as he focused on Homewards, a program he launched last year to end homelessness.

Sky’s royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills said Prince William was known to be “deeply frustrated” by the ongoing speculation about Kate’s absence.

“But today, for him it was a case of ‘look, face the game and get on with the job’.”

She added: “It has to be said that if you didn’t know all the noise that was going on you wouldn’t know what the issues were in the background – he really wanted to focus on the issues faced here in Sheffield.”

The future king unveiled Homebase’s pledge of £1 million in support in the form of up to 1,500 starter packs, which may include paint, furniture, flooring and furnishings, to help tenants turn their property into a home.

William also sat down with landlords to discuss what they were doing to end homelessness.

Groups including Keystone Property Group, Places for People, Letzmove, My Landlord Cares and Arches Housing have committed to providing more than 30 three and four-bedroom properties to families at risk of losing their homes.

Sheffield is one of six areas covered by the Homewards campaign, the others being Newport, South Wales, Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch, along with Lambeth, Belfast and South London. Aberdeen.
