Tesco loses appeal in yellow circle trademark dispute with Lidl

Tesco has lost successive appeals against discount rival Lidl over the use of yellow circles against a blue background in its club card branding.

The High Court ruled last year that Britain’s largest retailer Gain an “unfair advantage” The German company is known for its low prices when it introduces its club card price discount program.

However, the judge who heard the case in April last year rejected Tesco’s claim that it had “deliberately colluded with Lidl”.

Lidl has traditionally used a yellow circle on a blue background in its main logo.
