Modi govt bans JKLF (Yasin Malik faction) and JK People's Liberation League over terror links

The Modi government has banned the JKLF, led by jailed terrorist accused Yasin Malik.

New Delhi:

The Modi government banned the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Jammu and Kashmir Awami League and four Jammu and Kashmir Awami League factions led by jailed terrorist Yasin Malik for their involvement in agitation in the union territory of terror and separatism.

Announcing the decisions, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said anyone found challenging the security, sovereignty and integrity of the country will face stringent legal consequences.

In a separate notification, the Union Home Ministry also banned four factions of the JK Awami League – JKPL (Mukhtar Ahmed Waza), JKPL (Bashir Ahmed Tota) ), JKPL (Ghulam Muhammad Khan) and JKPL (Aziz) Sheikh led by Yaqoob Sheikh).

“The Modi government has declared the ‘Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (Mohammed Yasin Malik)’ as an ‘illegal association’ for a period of five years,” Amit Shah wrote on ‘X’.

The minister said the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Liberation League, which promotes, aids and abets the secession of Jammu and Kashmir through terrorism and threatens the integrity of India, has also been declared a banned organization for five years.

“The Modi government will continue to show no mercy to individuals and organizations involved in terrorist activities,” he said in another article.
