King Charles says messages of support after cancer diagnosis left him 'in tears'

The British monarch also said the messages “brought me to tears most of the time.”

A statement from Buckingham Palace on Friday revealed King Charles III’s heartfelt response to the overwhelming support he has received since his cancer diagnosis earlier this month. The statement said the king was deeply moved by the many messages of support he received and often found himself “crying” from the outpouring of well wishes. CNN the report said.

Buckingham Palace also revealed that more than 7,000 letters and cards had poured in from around the world expressing solidarity with the king.

Touchingly, the statement added, “Such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement,” Charles said.

The British monarch also said the messages “brought me to tears most of the time.”

On February 6, Buckingham Palace announced that 75-year-old King Charles III had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer. He will temporarily withdraw from public activities while he undergoes treatment.

The diagnosis came after he underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate in hospital in January.

While King Charles has suspended public appearances, he recently resumed official duties remotely. He was seen on a video call with Chancellor Rishi Sunak, marking a continuation of their weekly meetings.

Despite being treated, the king remains active in his official residence as head of state, conducting official duties.

Buckingham Palace also shared some of the warm messages and well wishes the King has received from the public.

Buckingham Palace said one of the messages that caused “royal laughter” was a card from an adult showing a dog wearing a veterinary cone, with the caption “King Charles, at least you don’t have to wear a cone.”

Another message said: “I wanted to tell you that I am thinking of you and praying for you as you face diagnosis and treatment and wish you a speedy recovery.”

“Keep your chest up, stay positive and don’t let it get you down. Trust me, it works, but the most important thing is family.”

Another wrote: “Never give up. Be brave. Don’t push your limits. Get well soon.”
