Rajasthan: Youth killed after Jhalawar cricket match

A 15-year-old boy died after he was allegedly beaten on the head after a cricket match in Jhalawar, police said on Wednesday. The incident took place in Bhavani Mandi town on Tuesday afternoon, they said.

After the team lost the game, a member of the rival team hit the boy in the head with a bat, police said. They said the teen died from head injuries sustained during treatment later in the evening.

The body of the deceased, identified as Prakash Sahu, a resident of the Rajasthan Textile Mill Labor Area in Bhawani Mandi town, was handed over after post-mortem on Wednesday, police said. family.

Accused Mukesh Meena (20), a resident of the same colony, has been detained.

Circle inspector Mangilal Yadav said Sahu, a Class 10 student from the same colony, and Meena, a final-year BA student, were friends and used to attend the colony grounds every day play cricket.

On Tuesday afternoon, when Sahu was celebrating the cricket win with his teammates, Meena, annoyed at losing the match, hit Sahu on the head with a cricket bat from behind, he added.

Sahu fainted on the spot and was taken to a local hospital where doctors shifted him to Kota.

Yadav said the teenager succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kota late on Tuesday night. Police said a case has been registered against Meena under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Police said the defendant was locked in a room by his family after local workers damaged his bicycle earlier in the day.

They said police presence was increased in the colony after the incident.
