MANILA, Philippines—Blackwater escaped Terrafirma in its most recent PBA On Tour outing largely in part to the squad’s shooting efficiency from the three-point area.

After the Bossing’s 100-94 victory over the Terrafirma Dyip, stand-in coach Joe Silva reiterated that their success in the outside shooting didn’t come as a surprise.

“Actually, that’s our game. That’s what coach Jeff (Cariaso) wants, for us to spread the floor and hit our threes,” explained Silva, who is covering for coach Jeffrey Cariaso.

“We really practice that and it’s really a part of our system.”

Blackwater sank 14 of its 34 attempts from deep for a 41 percent clip, two more compared to Terrafirma’s 12-of-38 shooting (31 percent).

Rashawn McCarthy led the offense behind the arc, going perfect from deep in three attempts while also finishing with 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Baser Amer also nailed three triples in the victory after six tries to finish with 11 points.

When asked if Blackwater’s game plan of spreading the floor would continue even at the start of the season itself, Silva was quick to assert their stand.

“We will continue to do it and we will still continue to improve on it. We will not settle for that percent from the three-point area. We want to make it higher.”
