Neighbors of a viral Texas house with a Top Christmas Display Which attracted thousands of visitors, they are not happy with the display and action has been taken to keep visitors away this year.
“Do I agree that traffic is hard? Yes, you know but other neighborhoods deal with traffic and I don’t understand why we are the only street in America that is closed because of Christmas lights,” said homeowner Ren De Vitis.
Due to the demonstration, residents of the Preston Hollow neighborhood in North Dallas have received a special event permit to restrict pedestrian and vehicle traffic between 5 pm and 10:45 pm on December 23 through Christmas. WFAA reported. Preston Hollow Citizens for a Safer Community also received a permit that restricts traffic along the 6200 block of DeLoche Avenue, where the huge and popular Christmas display is located, NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reported.
With the permit, the neighborhood group hired and paid off-duty police officers for security, allowing only residents and their guests access to the festival area.
Neighborhood residents raised concerns last year when heavy traffic and large crowds gathered to view the bizarre viral display, which included bright lights covering the entire property and elaborate yard decorations.
de vitis told nbc They had no intention of becoming a holiday hot spot — but they started putting up elaborate decorations several years ago to make the season special for their two young daughters.
However, last year, videos of their performance went viral on TikTok, leading to thousands of people gathering on the street to watch the stunning spectacle.
According to WFAA, the permit also allowed the group to restrict access on weekend evenings. It was not immediately clear what impact that ban had on the region.
City officials stressed that access is limited solely to residents and those on an approved guest list after a fake invitation to attend the lighting was shared on social media.
“The invitation being circulated on social media is not valid for accessibility,” the city said. “Only residents of the 6200 block of DeLoache and those on their guest list will be admitted.”
