9-year-old child died of asthma attack, parents arrested for not doing anything for 3 hours

The parents have been charged with neglect and child endangerment.

A couple in America has been arrested in connection with the death of their nine-year-old daughter after an asthma attack. Accordingly Metro, Anthony and Rachel Modrow allegedly failed to call an ambulance and instead ran to bathe Amy Lynn Modrow when she suffered an asthma attack. The incident happened when Amy was at her friend’s house in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The outlet added that her parents refused to get her medical treatment and three hours later the emergency number 911 was called.

Her parents have now been charged with second-degree murder for the alleged neglect and endangerment of their child.

When Amy started having trouble breathing, the nine-year-old told her friend’s mother that she only had her grandmother’s inhaler, documents filed in court said.

The woman then called Anthony, who sighed and handed the phone to Rachel, who asked her to take Amy home, according to court documents. Metro Report.

He also tells Amy’s parents that the girl is not faking the attack and offers to take her to a doctor, but Madros declines the offer.

Three hours later, Amy’s aunt called a family friend who arrived at Modro’s home to find that the girl’s skin had turned blue, that she was struggling to raise her hand and was crying.

When Rachel went to prepare a steam bath for Amy, Anthony did not fill her inhaler, according to a family friend’s account in court documents.

Insisting that the girl needed medical attention, the family friend then pulled Amy out of the house and called 911 at 10:40 a.m., three hours after Amy collapsed, phone logs showed.

Amy was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center but doctors could not find a pulse and she was declared brain dead due to lack of oxygen.

Doctors later told investigators Amy would have had a “very good chance of survival with earlier medical intervention,” according to the documents.

An asthma attack should be taken seriously and calling emergency services is recommended if a flare-up lasts more than a few seconds after taking 10 inhaler puffs.
