India’s largest and oldest paramilitary forces, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated their 87th Rising Day on Sunday, marking 86 years of unique service, valor and dedication to the nation.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan at the Institute of Shaurya Officers at the Shaurya Officers Institute in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, took the occasion to the occasion as the chief guest.
Continuing his glorious tradition of honoring valor, the Home Secretary of the Union provided a medal of bravery to 27 brave personnel and family members of three martyrs.
The 30 -valor medal recipients include 17 award winners recognized for their courage in the Left Extremism (LWE) affected states like Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, and 13 personnel appreciated their brave action against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a tribute to the fallen soldiers, CRPF Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh, along with senior officials, laid a garland in the National Police Memorial, saluted 2,268 CRPF martyrs who gave their lives in the line of duty.
While reflecting the magnificent CRPF legacy, DG Singh recalled landmark battles such as the Battle of Hot Springs (1959) against the Chinese forces and the battle of Sardar Post (1965), where two CRPF companies separated a full brigade of the Pakistan Army, which caused significant casualties.
He also emphasized the commitment of the organization for transparency, highlighting that about 100 percent transfer to the rank of deputy commandant is now being processed through the Santos app. Additionally, he focused the CRPF on the welfare of the family, keeping in mind the MoUs signed with major institutions for higher education including engineering and medical colleges to benefit the families of force.
Beyond national security, CRPF Jawans have also excelled in the Games, which has laid Laurel. In the last one year, CRPF athletes have won 56 gold, 48 silver and 70 bronze medals in various national and international programs.
In his address, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan appreciated the versatile roles of CRPF, which fulfills his long -standing commitment to maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir, North East and its recent successes in Chhattisgarh.
He specifically referred to the establishment of 149 forward operating base (FOBS) in Maoist-prone areas, a step that has significantly reduced the Naxalite activity.
He described CRPF as a true “hassle-shooter”, which praises his significant contribution to disaster response, counter-desire, law and order management and election duties across the country. (AI)
