Indonesian women’s cricket team bowler Rohmalia Rohmalia created history by recording the best bowling figures in T20I history. The 17-year-old off-spinner was in top form with figures of 3.2-3-0-7 during the fourth T20I against Mongolia on Wednesday. The sensational bowling spell broke the previous record held by Netherlands’ Frederik Overdijk, who had figures of 4-2-3-7 against France during a match in the 2021 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Zone Qualifier. Overall, Rohmalia became the fourth bowler to take 7 wickets in a T20I match. Argentina’s Alison Stocks and Malaysia’s Syajrul Ezat Idrus were the other two.

These were also the best figures by any bowler on debut as Rohmalia surpassed the feat achieved by Nepal’s Anjali Chand, who had a spell of 2.1-2-0-6 against Maldives in 2019.

Best bowling figures in T20Is (men and women):

Rohmalia Rohmalia (Indonesia Women): 3.2-3-0-7 against Mongolia, 2024

Frederique Overdijk (Netherlands Women): 4-2-3-7 against France, 2021

Alison Stocks (Argentina Women): 3.4-0-3-7 against Peru, 2022

Syazrul Ezzat Idrus (Malaysia Men): 4-1-8-7 against China, 2023

Rohmalia’s sensational bowling performance played a key role in Indonesia’s victory over Mongolia in the fifth T20I. Batting first, Indonesia scored 151 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, with Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini top-scoring with 61 runs from 44 balls.

In reply, Mongolia was out for 24 runs in 16.2 overs.

Meanwhile, the West Indies ‘A’ cricket team reached Nepal on Wednesday ahead of the five-match T20 series against the hosts starting on April 27 in Kirtipur.

However, upon their arrival at the Kathmandu International Airport, the team received a surprise welcome as a tempo carrying the players’ luggage was waiting for them outside the airport.

In a viral video, West Indies players can be seen loading luggage into the tempo with the help of an assistant, who was stacking kit bags and suitcases one on top of the other.
