On Thursday afternoon, five Canadian Giz died after being killed by a vehicle in Markham.
The Markham Animal Service says that seven adult birds were killed at 1:30 pm on the Birchmount Avenue near the highway 407 overpass.
Five gizs were killed, while two birds, a pair were considered a pair, injured. They have been rescued and taken to a veterinarian.
At the scene, an animal service officer said that he has received information about the witness which suggests that the geese can be deliberately run down as they cross the road.
