Canadian authorities this week arrested 10 people, including three Indian men, for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking between Mexico and the North American country, according to media reports.
Ayush Sharma, 25, and Guramrit Sidhu, 60, both of Brampton, and Subham Kumar, 29, of Calgary Subham Kumar was arrested on an international arrest warrant following a joint operation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canadian television channel cp24.com reported on Monday.
“The conspiracy spanned three countries and involved drug suppliers with ties to Mexican cartels, drug distributors and brokers in Los Angeles, Canadian truckers and networks exporting drugs to Canada, and even Montreal, Italy,” the report said. A total of 10 people were arrested, five of whom were from Quebec, Ontario and Alberta, the official said. Reports say they will be extradited from Canada to the United States.

The group allegedly used Canadian “handlers” and “dispatchers” who would travel to Los Angeles for short periods of time. “Handlers” would coordinate the pickup and delivery of cocaine and methamphetamine using trucks bound for Canada.
Authorities said the shipments were coordinated by a network of drivers working with dozens of trucking companies that made multiple crossings from the U.S. to Canada via the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, Buffalo Peace Bridge and Blue Water Bridge.
Reports said Sharma and Kumar were truck drivers.
