Srinagar, Aug 07, KDC: In the strict following directions issued by the Secretary, Department of Health and Medical Education, and non-non-compliance food business operators (FBOs), under the ongoing rift on the Food Safety Department, the Commissioner, Food and Drugs Administration has stepped up enforcement activities in various districts of Kashmir Valley, under the supervision of Jammu and Kashmir, under the supervision of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the last two days, the department conducted a series of surprise inspections and raids at several places. In particular, in Safakadal and Parimpora areas of district Srinagar, the enforcement teams seized 2,500 cababs, which were processed using frozen meat without food. These adulterated kebabs were destroyed on the spot and was safely dealt with to prevent any risk for public health.
Additionally, 150 kg meatball (Gushtaba) was also seized during operation. Legal food samples of seized products were collected by the Food Safety Officers for detailed analysis and further legal action.
In a separate event in the Nagabal region of District Gandarbal, about 250 kg of purchased meat was destroyed due to visual signs of deteriorating improper handling and storage conditions.
The crack has developed strong reactions by default to FBOs, some of which have resorted to dumping unsafe foods on illegally abandoned sites. Two such incidents were recently reported in Kakpora (District Pulwama) and Khande Colony, Nawagam (District Srinagar).
In addition, action was taken against two FBOs in District Ganderbal for unhealthy food storage practices. Their premises have been sealed according to the law.
The Food Safety Department has reiterated its zero-oppression policy towards violation of food safety criteria and warned that strict legal action will be taken against any FBO found guilty of non-non-non-non-non-non-non-non-non-availability.
All stakeholders, especially in high -risk foods, are advised to strictly follow the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, including compulsory labeling requirements and hygiene protocols.
The Food Safety Department remains stable in its mission for public health protection and ensures consumers safe and nutritious food availability, which invest a large part of their income in food.
