2-year-old child rescued from 16-foot-deep well in Karnataka after 20 hours

New Delhi:

A two-year-old boy fell into a well in Karnataka and was rescued after an 18-hour operation. Rescue operations began after the child fell into a 16-foot-deep well in Lachayan village around 6:30 pm on Wednesday.

According to police, the child fell into the well while out playing near his home. It is believed the boy fell on his head. The matter came to light when someone heard the child crying and the family was immediately notified.

Authorities used an excavator to dig a pit about 21 feet deep, parallel to the borehole, to rescue the boy.

It is not yet known what the condition of the child is. Medical teams have been stationed at the scene and are equipped with oxygen, injections and other emergency medicines. An ambulance is also on standby and once the child is rescued, he will be immediately transferred to a hospital in Indi.
