Kolkata, October 24 (IANS) Police in Kolaghat in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district on Friday morning detained a 14-year-old boy for raping a five-year-old girl.
A police officer from the East Midnapore district police confirmed that the accused, a minor, would be produced before a juvenile justice court in the same district later in the afternoon.
The accused is also accused of threatening to kill the victim if she tells anyone, including her parents, about the sexual offense committed against him.
It is learned that the victim had gone to the accused’s house on the morning of 22 October. According to the police complaint lodged by the victim’s parents, the accused took advantage of the absence of other family members at home and raped their daughter at his residence.
According to the complaint lodged with the police, initially the victim did not tell her parents about the sexual crime that happened to her. However, finally on Wednesday, when she started feeling some physical discomfort, she informed her parents.
On Thursday morning, the victim’s parents first went to the accused’s house and told the entire incident to the accused’s parents. However, as the victim’s parents told the police, the accused’s parents not only rejected their allegations but also beat them.
After this, the victim’s parents lodged an official complaint against the accused at the local Kolaghat police station. The police registered the case and finally arrested the accused. Since he is also a minor, he has been booked under certain sections of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
The victim’s mother said, “Initially, my daughter did not tell us anything. But later, when she started having stomach pain, she told everything. We want the strictest punishment for the accused.”
