Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that Kiev would lose its war with Russia if the U.S. Congress did not approve military aid to fight Moscow’s invasion.

For months, congressional Republicans have blocked tens of billions of dollars in military aid to Kyiv.

“It is necessary to clearly tell Congress that if Congress does not help Ukraine, Ukraine will lose this war,” Zelensky said during a video conference on United24, the Kyiv-based organization’s fundraising platform.

Zelensky said it would be “difficult” for Ukraine to “survive” without aid.

“If Ukraine loses the war, other countries will be attacked,” he said.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has dragged on for more than two years.

Kiev said on Sunday that a Russian attack on the town of Gulyapol in the southern Zaporozhye region killed three people.

“Two men and a woman were hit by Russian shells and died under the rubble of their private residence,” Ivan Fedorov, the head of the region, said on social media.

Another female civilian was killed in the city of Kupiansk in the northeastern Kharkiv region, which has seen an increase in attacks in recent months, officials said.

“A woman died under the rubble of a fourth-floor apartment in a high-rise building,” Ukraine’s state emergency service said, adding that it was a residential building.

Authorities in the main city of Kharkiv said Russia launched another attack on Sunday that wounded five civilians, a day after a deadly attack there.

Meanwhile, Russia said it had destroyed 15 Ukrainian drones in its border regions of Belgorod and Bryansk and reported the death of a young woman.

Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gradkov said shrapnel hit a car carrying a family of six in the village of Shagarovka, about 35 kilometers (20 miles) from the Ukrainian border ).

“Unfortunately, a girl passed away,” Gladkov said, without specifying whether she was a minor. “She died at the scene from her injuries.”

Gladkov said her father suffered a head injury and the two children were taken to the hospital.

The Russian military said it had destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones over the Belgorod region and three Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk region – both areas are frequent targets of Kiev attacks.
