you've got Mail? Canada posts 'clarification' about the flag of Melbox

The Canada Post has directed its carriers to stop lifting the flag on the mailbox to indicate to distribute the mail.

The postal service says it is clarifying its existing policy and not installing a new, but it may still mean a change for some customers who use the flag whether they have received a letter.

A Canadian spokesperson states that the red indicator on the mailbox is used by the customers to tell their mail carriers that there is an outgoing mail, not to signal the incoming mail by the carrier.

The Crown Corporation says it issued an explanation as the customers complained that the carriers were not constantly using the flag.

Some rural residents have taken to online forums to reduce the instructions.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers say it was not told about the instructions of the Canada Post, and it is looking at it.
