An official said that New Delhi, October 4 (IANS) National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) member Vijaya Bharati Saini called upon the youth to be vigilant, raised their voice against injustice and helped to create a more inclusive and equitable society, an official said on Saturday.
Addressing the Valdictory session of the 3rd online short-term internship program (OTI) of 2025-2026, organized by the Commission, Saini urged 74 intern to develop in active defenders of human dignity.
He asked the intern to use his knowledge for social good and to maintain constitutional principles in both individual and professional fields.
74 state level students of 21 states and UTS completed the ostei program inaugurated by NHRC General Secretary Bharat Lal on 22 August, stating in an official statement.
OSTI equipped students from various academic fields to understand and address the major human rights issues. Through hands-on learning and interactive discussions, participants detect international laws, human rights concerns and practical advocacy methods.
Sayani congratulated the intern for enriching a two -week journey and appreciated her dedication.
Emphasizing the role of NHRC as the patron of justice and equality, he highlighted the work of the Commission in areas such as women’s rights, child protection, mental health, custodial justice and empowerment of marginalized communities.
Saini praised the width of learning introduced to the intern under the program, attracting attention to influential sessions from experts from fields such as psychology, forensic science and business and human rights.
Citing inspirational examples, he urged the intern to become an active protector of human dignity, to use his knowledge for social good and maintain constitutional principles in both individual and professional fields.
He concluded with an action to help the youth to be cautious, raising their voice against injustice and helping to create more inclusive and justified society.
While presenting a report on the internship, the NHRC Joint Secretary said that in addition to sessions on various aspects of human rights by NHRC members and senior officials, experts and representatives of civil society, Internues were also taken for a virtual tour for Tihar Jail, Police Station and Asha Kieran Shelter in Delhi.
He was given an understanding of how various government institutions work, the mechanisms to protect human rights, the realities on the ground and the necessary steps to protect the rights of the weaker sections of the society, he said.
