Young British adults are increasingly abandoning traditional Christmas Dinner, with about a fifth planning to serve curry, pasta or pizza this festive season.

Nearly a fifth (17 percent) of those aged 25 to 34 are turning away turkey And likes to “mix things up” with all the decor, non-traditional food tesco’s annual Christmas Trends report, based on a survey of 2,000 UK adults and sales data.

This trend extends across all age groups, with only 52 percent of adults planning to serve turkey this Christmas, 23 percent opting for chicken, 20 percent turning to beef and 21 percent planning a plant-based menu.

Even trimming is evolving; While pigs in blankets remain a favorite overall, only 22 percent of people aged 25 to 34 agree, preferring rice (32 percent) or even chips (23 percent).

Nearly three-quarters of people (73 percent) expect they will, or may, host at some point during Christmas, including a casual, family-style meal (49 percent), formal sit-down meal (30 percent) and drinks and nibbles (28 percent).

Cheese is the favorite party food, followed by crisps and dips, while 28 per cent of people are planning to drink less alcohol this Christmas and 12 per cent are not planning to drink alcohol at all.

The survey shows that the average size of a Christmas table in the UK will be eight people, while in Northern Ireland the number of hosts will be up to 11 people.

The survey shows that the most meaningful part of Christmas for Britons is opening presents together (18 percent), followed by playing games (13 percent) and watching a Christmas movie with loved ones (8 percent).

The most stressful moments come when cooking the main meal, bathing afterward, and cleaning the house beforehand.

About 70 percent of people will have an artificial Christmas tree this year, while 15 percent will have three or more trees.
