“You neither want to play nor perform”: Former India star’s firm opinion on Rohit Sharma’s IPL 2024 form cricket news

Mumbai Indians’ campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is almost complete and the players have little motivation to continue their best performances. Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya etc. are all established stars but have not been able to carry forward Mumbai Indians’ campaign this season. With MI looking unlikely to qualify for the playoffs as their performances remain in danger of slipping further, former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta feels there is still ‘pride’ to play for.

Dasgupta urged Rohit not to take his foot off the gas and urged the experienced opener to think about the upcoming assignments and end the IPL campaign on a high.

“You are playing for the team’s pride, you are playing as a professional cricketer and you are also playing for your pride. You don’t want to play a game and perform. Every time you When you cross the line, you want to perform at your best,” Dasgupta told Star Sports.

Dasgupta also feels that next year’s IPL mega auction could be a key motivating factor for Rohit to perform well. Since Hardik is now leading the franchise, many have suggested that Rohit may decide to leave the franchise after the season.
