India registered a resounding 434-run win over England in the third Test in Rajkot on Sunday. This was India’s biggest win by runs in the longest format. After setting a target of 557 runs, Rohit Sharma and Co. bowled out the visitors for 122 runs with the help of Ravindra Jadeja’s five-wicket haul. Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his second double century to take India to a huge score. With this victory, India has taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The host team will now try to take an unassailable lead with a win in the upcoming fourth Test.
Before the fourth match, former Australian opener Matthew Hayden had predicted that the series would end in favor of the hosts.
“I think it (the result of the series) is entirely India. I was looking at the results this morning and thought India, as a touring team, is a challenge because of that. It’s a battle of energy and its conservation. There are resources, which are very limited,” Hayden told Star Sports.
Hayden also advised Ben Stokes and Co. to keep a steady mindset ‘Teacher’ So that challenging and difficult situations can be avoided while playing in India.
“The game, the crowd and the country just keep coming to you. There’s this tremendous energy in India, especially in the win against England, and you can even put Australia on that list especially now. You have to have a Teacher And you have to have a mindset of peace to be able to survive there mentally,” Hayden said.
He said, “You have already seen that England have got the lead in games in this series, but have not been able to maintain it. And that is because of the constant nature of change every moment, every ball, every session.”
India and England will face each other in the fourth Test of the five-match series in Ranchi from February 23.
