York police warns of hot air balloon scam

These scammers were full of hot air.

York Regional Police says that many people were dropped from cold cash after the promise of warm air riding.

The investigation of the strange scam began on June 4, 2024, when investigators say that a person responded to a social media advertisement from a company called ‘The Candle Experience 2025’, offering a hot air balloon ride.

For $ 45, the person thought he received reservation for a ride the next day.

They actually took for a ride, but their legs remained on solid ground.

The York Police release said, “When the victim participated in a park to ride a schedule in a park in the area of the 14th Avenue and Donald Cusons Parkway, they met a large number of people, who were also shown for a hot air balloon ride,” a York police said.

“It was soon discovered that the victims had fallen victim to a scam as there were no hot air balloons or employees from the ‘The Candle Experience’ in the park.”

Police say that the same thing happened on July 12, when many people expect a warm air ride in the same park which was never physical.

The police recommend the following tips to avoid suffering:

  • See customer review on many platforms
  • Get a physical address and contact information for the company so that they can be verified
  • Authenticity
  • Beware of deals that look great to come true. Hot air balloon rides usually cost something
  • hundred dollars
  • Confirm your booking by calling or emailing the operator directly. Will be a reputed company
  • Immediately answer your query
