Yemen's Houthis say they are targeting two U.S. warships in the Red Sea

The Houthi rebels said U.S. ships were targeted by multiple naval missiles and drones.

Cairo:

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi rebels have launched a military operation targeting two U.S. warships and destroyers in the Red Sea, the group’s military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a televised address on Tuesday.

He said the ships were targeted by many naval missiles and drones.

The Houthi attacks in the Red Sea have disrupted global shipping, forcing companies to reroute longer, more expensive voyages around southern Africa and raising concerns that the Israel-Hamas war could spread instability across the Middle East.

Since mid-November, Houthi militants have repeatedly launched drones and missiles at international commercial shipping, saying they were in solidarity with Palestinians opposing Israeli military operations in Gaza.
