HyperOS – Xiaomi’s new skin for Android smartphones – has been rolled out on several eligible smartphone models since the update was released in China in late February. The company has now announced the next phase of HyperOS update for eligible Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones and tablets in China. The Chinese smartphone maker’s new phones, smart home devices and electric vehicles, such as the new Xiaomi SU7, are all expected to run on HyperOS.

The company shares HyperOS launch plans for Q2 2024 by post Saturday on X (formerly Twitter). Eligible smartphones include Xiaomi 11 Lite and Xiaomi 11i. Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge, Xiaomi 11T Pro, Xiaomi 11 Extreme Commemorative Edition, Xiaomi 10, Redmi K50i, Redmi 12, Redmi 11 Prime, as well as the Redmi 13C series and Redmi Note 11 series. According to the company, the Mi Pad 5 will also be updated to HyperOS.

When the HyperOS update for these Xiaomi and Redmi devices is released, users should see improvements in system performance, task switching, and messaging. At the same time, the company says the system also takes up less built-in storage. Even tasks like downloading and installing over-the-air (OTA) updates are said to take up less space and be completed faster than MIUI 14.

Updating to HyperOS also gives you access to lock screen customization, while Control Center, icons, and fonts have also been improved. New productivity features like workstation mode (for tablets) and connectivity features – including the ability to view your phone screen through your tablet. Using Xiaomi Smart Center, you can see and control individual smart home devices.

The company said it has rolled out the HyperOS update for the Mi 13 Pro, Mi 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12 and Redmi Note 13 series smartphones, as well as other Redmi phones. Both Xiaomi Mi Pad 6 and Redmi Pad have also received updates from the company. More phones and tablets are expected to get HyperOS updates later this year.
