A woman has been declared dead and a man is in the hospital after a Brezen shooting in Hamilton late Friday night.

According to Hamilton Police, the shooting took place between James Street and Mainab Street in the King Street, which was before 5:30 pm

Officials say a woman was declared dead on the spot and another male victim was taken to a hospital with non-bound injuries from a gunshot wound.

The Hamilton police wrote in a press release on Friday evening, “The suspect ran away from the area and remained dues.” “A large police appearance will persist for several hours as the authorities secure the view, collect evidence, and work to determine the circumstances around the event.”

“Members of the emergency response unit are actively cleaning Jackson Square as part of the investigation unit,” police said. “This investigation is active and in its early stages.”

The use of pedestrians and vehicles in the area is prohibited while roads remain closed.

Police said, “Investigators are appealing to any person who was in this area between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm and may have seen anything or may have kept relevant information for the case,” the police said. “Monitoring footage, dash camera videos, and eyewitness accounts can play an important role in furthering the investigation.”
