A body found on the side of a motorway in southern spain Local authorities have said it is believed to be the body of a missing 73-year-old British woman.
Geraldine Ann was reported missing on September 17 after leaving her home to feed cats in Chirivelle, near Grenada.
It is said that after an argument with her husband late at night, she had left the house wearing pajamas and flip-flops. Andalusia Today, Ms Ann was reported missing the next day.
Chirrivel Town Hall issued a statement saying: “We regret to inform you that a body has been found on the A-92 motorway, which is believed to be the body of our neighbor Geraldine, pending official confirmation from the authorities.”
The mayor of Chirivel, José Torregrossa Mota, described Ms Ann’s vulnerabilities: “She had dementia and on the night she went missing, she had apparently had a small fight with her husband and left the house.”
The long search ended when local authorities made the discovery under some vegetation close to the A-92 motorway in Kallar Municipality. It was about a mile away from his house.
Several groups were involved in the search for Ms Ann, including volunteers and a specialist mountain rescue unit from the Civil Guard. Search dogs and drones were also used.
Police are conducting DNA test to confirm the identity of the body.
