A businesswoman who allegedly stalked a TV music channel anchor and later kidnapped him with the intention of marrying him was arrested in Hyderabad, police said on Friday.
He said the woman had allegedly installed a tracking device on the TV anchor’s car to follow him and keep an eye on his activities.
The 31-year-old woman, who runs a digital marketing business, saw pictures of TV anchors on a matrimony website two years ago and started chatting with the account holder. However, she later realized that the account holder was using the TV anchor’s photo instead of her own photo as the profile picture on the matrimony site.
Then he searched the profile and found the phone number, which belonged to the anchor.
She contacted the anchor through an instant messaging app, but the anchor told her that some unknown person had used her photo and created a fake account on the matrimony site and she lodged a complaint about this at the cyber crime police station. Is.
However, the woman continued sending messages to the anchor.
Police said that after this he blocked her number.
Police said the woman, who was adamant on marrying the anchor, planned to kidnap him thinking she could solve the case.
Accordingly, he hired four people to kidnap Anker and also installed a tracking device on the victim’s car to keep an eye on his movements.
Police said that on February 11, four hired men abducted the victim and took him to the woman’s office and beat him badly.
Police said that fearing for his life, the TV anchor agreed to answer the woman’s call and only then was he allowed to go.
They later lodged a complaint at Uppal police station and a case was registered under sections 363 (kidnapping), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement) and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
During the investigation, the police arrested the accused woman along with four people whom she had hired to carry out the kidnapping.
