A woman in her 20s has died in a motorway collision on Christmas Eve.
Kent Police said she was driving a black Volkswagen T-Roc when she collided with the central reservation and overturned.
The incident occurred shortly before 12.50pm on the London-bound M2 carriageway, near the Medway services at Junction 4.
The force said the woman, from the Faversham area of Kent, was pronounced dead at the scene and there were no other passengers inside the car or vehicle.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit attended and the carriageway was closed between junctions 5 and 4 on the day. Traffic is expected to peak on Christmas,
“It is likely to remain closed for some time”, the National Highway said at 4.40pm, before the road was fully reopened in the evening.
According to the agency, the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service also responded.
RAC said it was expected Festive holiday journeys by car will peak at 4.2 million on Christmas Eve, with the number of regular commuters “likely to be much lower”.
The AA estimates there will be more than 22 million cars on the roads on Christmas Eve.
The force is appealing for witnesses and motorists to come forward with dashcam footage.
