Will the Maiya Samman Yojana amount have to be refunded? BJP’s remarks spark panic in Jharkhand

Jharkhand BJP leader Babulal Marandi

Jharkhand is once again witnessing political unrest over the Maiya Samman Yojana. The Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand will increase the monthly subsidy amount from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500 through the ‘Maiya Samman Yojana’ to provide financial support to over half of the population of over 50 lakh. On the other hand, an order by the authorities has created an atmosphere of panic and fear among thousands of beneficiaries of the scheme.

In fact, Babulal Marandi, president of the Jharkhand Bharatiya Janata Party and former chief minister of the state, published a post on the issue on social media X. He said the Hemant government distributed huge amounts of Maiya Samman Yojana like freebies without any restrictions before the elections and was now gearing up to extort money from women. Special instructions are being issued to departments to limit the number of beneficiaries by compiling lists of women who will benefit from the scheme.

Marandi said – The government has added many new conditions in the scheme

He further said that the Hemant government was trying to deprive women of benefits from the scheme in the name of beneficiary verification and had in the past boasted of providing financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month to all women during elections, but once the government was formed, Maiya Samman Yojana has introduced many new schemes. The BJP will not allow money amounting to Maiya Samman Yojana to be recovered from women in the state.

Meanwhile, BJP state president Babulal Marandi also posted a cutout on social media. Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri has reportedly directed all COs, BDOs and CRPs in the district to find out if there are any ineligible beneficiaries under Chief Minister Maiya Samaan scheme and remove their names from the list. Also recover the benefits (amount) received as Samman Rashi from such disqualified beneficiaries.

JMM denies Marandi’s allegations

Meanwhile, on the issue, central spokesperson of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Manoj Pandey said that the beneficiaries are not the correct beneficiaries but people who may have hidden the information and may have provided wrong documents and they do not meet the criteria , but if they gain benefits through misleading, then their number will definitely be less. Appropriate action should be taken against such persons and their names should be removed from the list.

If officials are found to be at fault, they should also be held accountable. However, the government will disburse Rs 2,500 to women beneficiaries who meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme. As the fifth installment of Samman Rashi under Maiya Yojana, the state government will increase the amount provided to over 50 lakh women beneficiaries from December 1,000 to Rs 2,500.
