Mumbai, October 22 (IANS) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday put an end to speculations about his move to Delhi, saying he will continue in his current post till 2029.

He also said that the current structure of the grand alliance government will not be changed.

He said, “I will remain the Chief Minister of Maharashtra till 2029. As far as I know, my party, Delhi, is still far away.”

While talking to reporters at his official residence Varsha on the occasion of Diwali, Fadnavis said that there will be no cabinet reshuffle in Maharashtra, because not even a year has passed since the cabinet expansion.

He said, “After one year we will review the work of all the ministers and then a decision will be taken about the cabinet reshuffle.”

He further said that there will be no new partner or exchange of partners as the current differences between BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP will remain unchanged.

Fadnavis criticized the opposition for leveling allegations regarding discrepancies in the state voter list for the upcoming local and civic body elections to be completed by January 31, 2026, as per the Supreme Court order.

He criticized the opposition parties for raising objections to the voter list to create a perception for the local and municipal elections.

He said, “They have not raised any objection to the voter list nor made any suggestions, and also oppose a complete revision of the voter list. The opposition wants to postpone the local and municipal elections, but they have no solid reason. They no longer speak about the voter list in the Bihar campaign.”

He said that the opposition parties feel that the local and municipal elections could be problematic for them. Fadnavis said the BJP will soon highlight how the existing voter list has helped the opposition.

On the Mahayuti fighting the upcoming local and municipal elections in the state together as a grand alliance, Fadnavis said, “It is not that we will contest elections together in all the municipal corporations. In many places the BJP is number one, and in many places someone else is number two. It will be disadvantageous for us, so in some places we will contest the elections separately. The Mahayuti will form a politically intelligent alliance for the locals and the local people.” Municipal body elections. In the Mumbai metropolitan area, the ruling partners will form a pre-poll alliance, while in other places there may be poll alliances.’

On Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray coming together in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, he said, “If Raj Thackeray says I brought the two brothers closer on the Marathi issue, I take it as a compliment.”

“Earlier I was criticized for breaking parties. No third party can break a political party. Only ambitions and injustice can break parties,” he said.

He told that he is hopeful that Thackeray’s brokers will remain with him even after the local and civic body elections.

He said that ‘Thackeray brand’ means only Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray and no one else.

To a question on whether he was facilitating an alliance between Raj and Uddhav Thackeray to harass Eknath Shinde, Fadnavis said, “Just like I have relations with Raj Thackeray, Eknath Shinde also enjoys the same kind of relations.”
