Chennai, Nov 1 (IANS) AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday justified the expulsion of veteran leader KA Sengottaiyan from the party and accused him of working as part of the DMK’s “B team” and repeatedly working against the interests of the party over the past several months.
Speaking to reporters, Palaniswami said that Sengottaiyan was collaborating with expelled members like O Panneerselvam and TTV Dhinakaran, who were removed from the party for anti-party activities.
“He was warned several times, but he defied the organization and continued to support those who are openly plotting to weaken the AIADMK. Anyone who works against the leadership will meet the same fate – we will not sit idle,” he said firmly.
The AIADMK chief alleged that Sengottaiyan had deliberately tried to defame the party’s programs and leaders.
“He falsely claimed that Jayalalitha’s photograph was missing at a party event. The organizers clarified the matter, but he refused to accept the explanation. Later, at a government function to distribute bicycles, he attended even though the banners displayed photographs of late M. Karunanidhi and MK Stalin, while those of our founder MG Ramachandran and Amma (Jayalalitha) were removed. Only then did it become clear that he had voted for the DMK. Have started working as B-team,” Palaniswami said.
He accused Sengottaiyan of maintaining close ties with those who had been expelled by Jayalalithaa herself.
“For the last six months, he has been openly working against AIADMK. He keeps talking about those who were removed by Amma, and not about those who left voluntarily. Associating with him is nothing less than betrayal,” he said. Palaniswami reiterated that TTV Dhinakaran has no moral right to speak about AIADMK.
“People like Dhinakaran, OPS and Sengottaiyan are now jointly trying to help the DMK retain power in 2026. They are dreaming of bringing the DMK back, but the people of Tamil Nadu will never let that happen,” he said.
The AIADMK general secretary concluded by saying that the party’s disciplinary action was both fair and necessary.
He said, “When someone betrays the party, we cannot remain silent. AIADMK is not anyone’s personal property – it belongs to the lakhs of workers who have sacrificed for this movement.”
