Even before Diwali and winter, Delhi’s air starts getting polluted. With Delhi’s air turning “toxic”, it is said that Grape-2 may be implemented in Delhi soon. If this happens, projects in Delhi that may increase pollution will be banned. In this case, let us know what this grape is and how many categories it has. Apart from that, let us know which tasks are not allowed at which level. So let’s know about grapes in Delhi and their rules…
What are grapes?
Grap means GRAP. The full form of GRAP is a Graded Response Action Plan. This is the government’s plan to combat the growing pollution in the National Capital Region of Delhi. Control pollution through this program. In fact, it has many stages, and these stages also increase with increasing pollution. As the phases increase, so do the restrictions in Delhi.
How many levels are there?
GRAP has approximately 4 phases. The first phase is implemented when Delhi’s air quality deteriorates from 201 to 300. Thereafter, if the air quality deteriorates and the AQI reaches 301 to 400, the second phase will be implemented. If the air becomes very bad, i.e. the AQI exceeds 400, Level 3 is applied; if conditions get worse, GRAP Level 4 is implemented.
Which category has what rules?
Grape-1: Currently, Grap-1 has been implemented in Delhi. This is the first level of GRAP, taking initial steps to prevent an increase in pollution. In GRAP-1, construction and demolition sites must take all measures to reduce smoke. Construction projects over 500 square meters must be registered in advance. It is requested not to throw garbage out in the open, and debris must be covered. Efforts are being made to prevent fires at garbage dump sites and trucks that do not want to travel to Delhi will be diverted from surrounding areas. The use of coal and wood is prohibited.
Grape-2: Group 2 restrictions have been increased. For example, parking fees have increased, subway travel promotion, etc. Diesel generators are prohibited and operation of natural gas generators is required. In addition to this, various restrictions were imposed on fire, coal, etc.
Grape 3: In GRAP-3, polluting buses from NCR states will not be allowed to enter Delhi. Now, polluting buses from NCR will not enter Delhi. CNG, BS VI and electric buses will be exempt from this restriction. Apart from this, this also does not apply to bus or tempo passengers with Indian tourist permit. At the same time, construction will be subject to many restrictions.
However, it is said that there may be some relaxation this time. Major jobs such as welding and gas cutting will not be possible. Small jobs such as mechanical, electrical and plumbing are exempt. Cement, plaster and paint work cannot be carried out, but minor interior repairs and maintenance work can be carried out. Unable to cut, grind and fix tile, stone and flooring materials.
Grape 4: In Group 4, only trucks carrying CNG, electric trucks and emergency cargo will be allowed to enter Delhi. Further, non-Delhi registered light commercial vehicles (except EV/CNG/BS-VI diesel vehicles) are not allowed to ply in Delhi. Construction of public projects such as highways, highways, overpasses, overpasses, and pipelines has been suspended. At the same time, schools are on holiday and focus is on online learning. Additionally, there is an emphasis on working from home.
