In an interactive session, the Army Chief also broadly said that India’s relations with China have improved in the last one year following talks between the leadership of the two countries.
On cross-border terrorism from Pakistan, General Dwivedi said New Delhi is following the new general policy in dealing with Pakistan, and it will be a challenge if the neighboring country continues to support terrorist groups targeting India.
“India focuses on progress and prosperity. If anyone creates obstacles in our way, we will have to take some action against them,” he said.
“We have said that talks and terror cannot go together; blood and water cannot go together. We are in favor of a peaceful process in which we will cooperate. Till then, we will treat terrorists and their sponsors equally,” the Army chief said.
Apparently referring to Pakistan’s nuclear threat, he said, “Today India is in such a position that it is not afraid of any blackmailing.”
“Our new normal in fighting terrorism will be a challenge for Pakistan,” he said.
The Army Chief said that India’s political leadership has the will to strengthen the country’s deterrence capabilities.

He said, “Today our immunity is very strong. Our immunity is working.”
General Dwivedi also said that after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved significantly.
“After this there has been political clarity. There has been a huge decline in terrorism,” he said. The Army Chief also indicated that President Draupadi Murmu may consider visiting Manipur as the situation is improving in the state.
