British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s wife Akshata Murty has praised his cooking skills, admitting that he doesn’t have much time to spend in the kitchen due to his busy daily routine .

On the occasion of International Women’s Day this month, the first couple of British India gave a joint interview to Grazia women’s magazine at 10 Downing Street.

They describe their lives at one of Britain’s most famous addresses, where they live with their daughters Krishna, 12, and Anoushka, 11, and the family dog Nova.

“Rishi is the better cook. I do have a lot of passion, but Rishi is definitely more talented at it,” Ms. Muti shared.

“But now it’s mainly Saturday morning breakfast. Gordon Ramsay’s scrambled eggs,” Mr Sunak added.

The couple also admitted that Mr Sunak was the tidier of the pair, often returning to his bedroom to make his bed in the morning.

“I’m not a morning person,” Ms. Muti admits, to which her husband says: “But you don’t like making the bed either, and that annoys me. In fact, sometimes I come back to the apartment from the office after get off work. “We all went out and made the bed because I would be so angry if the bed wasn’t made. ”

Ms Murthy, who met while they were students at Stanford University, revealed that her untidy habits would have irritated him even then.

“When we were studying, I used to eat in bed. Rishi would come to where I was staying. Sometimes there would be plates on my bed,” said Ms. Murthy, who admitted that compared to others, she was “not the most Organized Man” her husband.

Now parents, the 43-year-old couple say they tend to divide tasks equally, with Ms Muti doing homework and Sunak doing the rest.

“I’m more strict when it comes to school-related things, like completing homework, making sure they’re reading. Making sure anything school-related is done well,” Ms. Muti said.

The businesswoman daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy also admitted that she has a more flexible schedule and is able to exercise more than her husband and find time to read more books. The couple ended the day by watching reruns of the sitcom Friends, which they both love because it “never gets old.”

“I’m so tired when I get home, so I watch an episode of Friends and go to bed,” shared Mr Sunak, who only finds time to go out for a run once or twice a week.

The couple moved into No. 10 Downing Street in October 2022, when Sunak was elected leader of the ruling Conservative Party and became Britain’s first non-white prime minister after months of political turmoil.

He is currently preparing for his first general election as leader of the Conservative Party, which he has said will be held in the second half of 2024, but some opposition Labor parties speculate that it may be earlier than that.
