Palmer’s link with United was reportedly due to “homesickness”, with the 23-year-old growing up in the city and first breaking into professional football through Manchester City’s youth academy. He moved to Chelsea in 2023 for about £40 million and has a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
Ronnie Orr previously responded to rumors linking Palmer with Manchester United and played them down, claiming he was part of Chelsea’s long-term plans.
“I’ve had a lot of conversations with Cole and he seems happy to be here,” Ronnie Orr revealed earlier this week. “He is an important part of our long-term plans.
“My job and the job of the club is to enable him to continue to perform at the level he wants. The Brentford game was frustrating. We need to look after him and that’s why I didn’t play him in the last game.”
