The FBI has offered a reward of up to $250,000 for the arrest of Bhadreshkumar Chetanbhai Patel, a 33-year-old Indian citizen wanted for the 2015 murder of his wife in Maryland, United States.

Badresh Kumar Patel was last seen in the Newark, New Jersey area and is considered “armed and extremely dangerous,” the Press Trust of India news agency reported.

Patel is on the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted” list, and the federal agency has announced a reward of up to $250,000 for information leading to his arrest.

initial, FBI offers $100,000 reward for information on Patel.

He is accused of murdering his wife, Palak Patel, by beating her multiple times with an object at a relative’s Dunkin’ Donuts store in Hanover, Maryland, where they both worked the night shift.

The FBI believes the murder occurred just before midnight on April 12, 2015.

After the murder, a customer who walked into the store realized something was wrong when he noticed no one was there to take his order.

He informed a police station official who discovered Palak Patel’s body.

“It’s horrific what happened to this young woman,” said Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Schafer of the FBI’s Baltimore Division.

According to investigators, Palak Patel, then 21, wanted to return to India, but her husband objected. Their visas expired a month before the murders.

“The best guess is he didn’t want her to leave,” Schaefer said. “He probably thought it would be embarrassing for him to leave and return to India.”

After the murder, Patel fled the scene. A federal arrest warrant was issued for him days later.

The FBI believes Patel may be with relatives in the United States or may have fled to Canada or even back to India.

“These are all viable options that we are exploring,” Shafer said.

The FBI said in a statement that Patel was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, assault and dangerous weapon with intent to injure, PTI reported.

The FBI is asking anyone with information about Patel’s whereabouts to contact them.
