want to return a Christmas Gift given to you? An expert explains that using your gift receipt isn’t always that simple.
Appearing on BBC Morning Live on Wednesday (December 17), Louise Minchin explained that a gift receipt means you can exchange it for another item or get store credit, but you may not always get a refund.
He said that although it may be “weird”, you may have to ask the person who bought the gift for you if they have the original receipt, because only then are you guaranteed a refund.
If the gift was purchased in cash, the recipient can complete the refund by going to the store alone. However, if it was paid for by card, the money will be refunded to their card, so the person buying the gift will have to come with you.
