Paris:
Astronomers hoped that humanity could not be alone in the universe by making this announcement on Thursday that they have detected the most promising signs of life on a distant planet.
But given the age and vastness of the universe, a different question has surprised some scientists for a long time: why have we not already come in contact with aliens?
“where is everybody?” In 1950, Enriko Fermi asked the famous physicists including Edward Taylor at lunch.
This Quality was named the contradiction of Fermi.
“This is a number of sports,” Jason Wright, director of the Extractorial Intelligence Center at Pennsylvania State University, told AFP.
The Milky Way is about 10 billion years old and is home to over 100 billion stars.
This suggests that our house galaxy has a mental number of potentially living planets.
This may include K2–18B, where astronomers stated that on Thursday they have detected a chemical signals that are produced only by microbial life on Earth.
Wright stated that the contradiction of Fermi inevitably suggests – given sufficient time – “At the end of every foreign species will be its alone musk that will go out and settle the next star”.
That we have not yet heard of aliens, known as “The Mystery of the Great Silence”.
– So what are the principles? ,
According to a 2015 book, at least 75 speculative solutions have been proposed so far for the contradiction of Fermi, although Wright estimates that more has been added since then.
First of all, it is possible that humanity has not yet traced foreign lives because there is no one – we are really alone.
Many scientists feel that this is unlikely.
Earlier this year, some of the more than 1,000 scientists in the relevant areas surveyed in Nature Astronomy agreed that at least one is a basic form that is a basic form of supernatural life.
More than 67 percent agreed that intelligent aliens are out of there.
Of course, it is also possible that aliens are already here and we have not paid attention – or that it has been covered.
Or the intersteller space can be very difficult to cross the bus, the distance required very spacious, the resources very good.
– What if there is a ‘great filter’? ,
Another theory is that there is some type of “great filter” that prevents life – or intelligent life – being in the first place.
Or perhaps there is some kind of barrier that prevents civilizations from moving beyond a certain point.
For example, once civilizations develop technology to travel through space, they can destroy themselves with something like nuclear weapons.
Or maybe they burn through their planet’s natural resources, or disqualify their climate.
Some of these principles are influenced by apprehensions for human civilization – an example we have intelligent life.
But Wright felt that it was unlikely because any such obstacle would have to be equal throughout the universe.
This too will have to be completely extinct every time the species, otherwise they will eventually bounce back and try again on the space trip.
– Are we in a zoo or planetarium? ,
There are even more galaxy-minded ideas.
Under the “zoo” hypothesis, technically advanced aliens will leave humans alone to see us like animals in a zoo.
The “planetarium” hypothesis suggests that aliens can create an illusion that, keeping us in the dark, shows the space empty.
– … or a ‘dark forest’? ,
The principle got his name from the second book in Chinese writer Sixin Liu’s science-story series “The Three-Body Problem”.
It assumes that the universe is a “dark forest” in which no one wants to reveal their presence that they are destroyed by others.
There are other hypotheses that prefer to “cross” in another aircraft of aliens existence – what is compared to virtual reality – so do not bother with the intersteler journey.
– Why will they all be the same? ,
But many of these are a major problem with “so -called solutions”, Right said.
They assume that all imaginary types of aliens in the universe will all behave in the same way – forever.
It has been described as a “monocultural faults”.
Wright, who has used the SETI telescope to search for radio signals or leasers from stars, also pushed back against the idea that humanity would have already lifted any foreign signal.
He said that aliens can send messages using all types of unknown technology, so perhaps the galaxy is not as silent as we think, he said.
“Those among us who are looking for life in the universe do not usually think of Fermi contradiction or great silence as such a big problem.”
