Who is Mohammed Sidan P?
(PMRBP) 2025 was awarded to Mohammed Sidan P for his extraordinary bravery and quick thinking. President Draupadi Murmu honored the 11-year-old during a function held in New Delhi today.
Sidan, a resident of Palakkad, Kerala, showed courage when he saved two of his friends from electric shock while they were waiting for the school bus without fearing for their lives.
He is among 20 children from across India who have been recognized this year for their extraordinary courage and contribution in various fields.
The award ceremony coincides with Veer Bal Diwas, which is observed every year on December 26 to commemorate the martyrdom of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji, who were bricked alive in Sirhind, now in Punjab.
President Murmu said that about 320 years ago, Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his four sons made the supreme sacrifice while fighting in support of truth and justice. He said the bravery of the two youngest Sahibzadas is respected and honored both in India and abroad.
Speaking about the award winners, the President said, “Children have made their families, communities and the entire country proud. These awards will inspire all children across India.”
What is PM Rashtriya Bal Puraskar?
PMRBP One of India’s most prestigious national level awards for children under 18 years of age, presented annually by the Honorable President of India. It recognizes extraordinary achievements in six categories, namely bravery, social service, environment, sports, arts and culture, and science and technology.
The objective of this award is to celebrate, encourage and inspire children by acknowledging their outstanding contributions at the national level.
eligibility criteria
The award is given to Indian citizens resident in India, aged between 5 and 18 years as on 31 July of the given year.
The work, event or achievement for which they are being nominated must have occurred two years before the closing date of applications.
