‘Where is Rohit Sharma?’ Internet questions star’s absence in MI team bonding video | Cricket News

Mumbai Indians have been one of the best performing teams in the IPL over the years. Led by Rohit Sharma, they became the first IPL team to win five titles. The Indian cricket team captain will be in the MI ranks this year, but only as a player. Hardik Pandya’s appointment as the new Intelligence Captain has become a major topic of discussion on social media.

Rohit Sharma recently joined the Mumbai Indians after a tough five-match Test series. All eyes will be on his performance as a batsman in IPL 2024, especially in the T20 World Cup after the IPL.

On Wednesday, MI posted a collage of team photos where the players can be seen enjoying wearing cool sunglasses. Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard are featured in the video. However, both Rohit Sharma and MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah were not available. Bumrah is yet to join the camp. It’s unclear when the video was filmed. However, social media users started raising questions over Rohit’s absence.

MI’s official social media account shared his attacking style in online games, which he usually displays in his matches against opponents.

The 36-year-old joined the MI camp on Monday ahead of the upcoming IPL 2024 season. The Mumbai-based franchise shared a clip of the former MI captain joining the team on their official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Pandya returned to his previous team from Gujarat Titans (GT) in November last year as part of a deal between the two teams. The all-round star spent two years with GT, leading their campaign in the cash-rich league with aplomb. In GT’s inaugural season in 2022, Hardik gave them a fairytale start as the team lifted the coveted trophy.

The 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will kick off on March 22 with defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a South India derby at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans and five-time champions Mumbai Indians will lock horns in a mouth-watering showdown on March 24 in Ahmedabad. The match attracted a lot of attention as star all-rounder Pandya moved to his previous team MI after two outstanding seasons with GT. Shubman Gill takes over as GT captaincy.
