Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has strongly criticized the administration for banning the occasion of Martyr’s Day and taking into custody the party employees, on July 13, it was seen annually to honor the memory of those who reminded people of autocracy fighting in 1931.
In a strong statement statement, Mufti said, “The day you accept our heroes as their own, as Kashmiris have embraced you-from Mahatma Gandhi to Bhagat Singh-that day, as Prime Minister Modi once said, ‘Dil Ki Darwaza’ (distance of heart) will actually end.”
Condemning the government’s actions, the police said that the police sealed the reach to Mazar-e-Shuhada in Naqashband Sahib, Srinagar, and the restricted agitation of citizens, effectively siege the martyrs’ cemetery. The residents were reportedly confined to their homes, and political leaders were either closed inside or were detained while trying to go to the site.
Mufti alleged that many PDP leaders including Khurshid Allam, Zohab Mir, Hamid Kohshin, Arif Liagru, Sara Nayema, Tabsum, Bashrat Nasim, and others who attempted to reach Mazar-e-Shahade were managed to leave their homes and detained at various police stations.
