New Delhi, October 20 (IANS) Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday extended Diwali wishes to the nation and urged people to remember the brave soldiers and martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the service of the country.
General Dwivedi extended his warm wishes to all the officers, soldiers and their families and said that may Diwali, the festival of lights and happiness, brighten everyone’s life with new energy, new opportunities and a sense of success.
He wished for peace, prosperity and harmony for all citizens.
In a special message, the Army Chief appealed to the nation to remember the sacrifices of the brave men who ensured the security and dignity of the country.
He said, “When we light lamps this Diwali, let us also light a lamp in the memory of our martyrs.”
Marking the occasion, General Dwivedi visited forward posts in the highlands of Uttarakhand to celebrate Diwali with the troops guarding the country’s borders.
The Army Chief reviewed the operational preparedness and security situation in the strategically important Himalayan region including Pithoragarh and its surrounding areas.
During his visit, General Dwivedi interacted with the troops deployed in difficult weather conditions and wished them for the festival.
He appreciated their commitment, courage and discipline while stressing the importance of strengthening civil-military cooperation in these sensitive border areas.
Encouraging the soldiers to continue their dedicated service to the nation, the Army Chief said, “Diwali is not only a festival of lights but also a symbol of courage, sacrifice and unity.”
The Indian Army continues to guard the country’s borders with unwavering discipline, dedication and a deep sense of national service – these values reflect the true spirit of Diwali.
In his Diwali message, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also wished all the citizens. He prayed that this divine festival brings positivity, prosperity and new energy to every home.
“May the blessings of Mother Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha illuminate the lamp of peace, unity and progress in the entire country,” Singh said.
The Indian Air Force also joined in extending the festive greetings by wishing all Indians a bright, peaceful and prosperous Diwali.
