In a remarkable revelation, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Thursday revealed his commitment to adopting a vegetarian diet and adopting yoga as an integral part of his lifestyle.

Emphasizing the importance of holistic well-being, CJI Chandrachud revealed that he has followed a vegetarian diet for the last five months and intends to continue this dietary regime.

“I practice yoga. I woke up today at 3:30 am to do yoga. Also, I am following a vegetarian diet for the last 5 months. I am trying to focus on the holistic pattern of life, That starts with what you do.” Share insights on your wellness practices, Chief Justice Chandrachud told ANI, Eat definitely, and what you put into your system.

The CJI also shared his experience when he first contracted COVID-19 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi called him and suggested ‘Vaidya’ from AYUSH for treatment.

“I have been associated with AYUSH since the outbreak of Covid. I was really badly attacked and the Prime Minister called me and said, ‘I believe you are suffering from Covid and I hope everything Okay. I realize that you are not in good condition but we will do everything. There is a ‘Vaidya’ who is also the secretary in AYUSH and I will arrange a call with him who will send you the medicine and everything.’ When I was suffering from Covid, I took medicine from AYUSH. The second and third time when I got Covid, I did not take any allopathic medicine…” the CJI said.

CJI Chandrachud said that holistic lifestyle is important not only for the judges and their immediate families, but also for the staff members.

He further said, “About a year ago I had done Panchakarma and now I am looking forward to doing it again as it is the turn of the season.”

The Chief Justice of India on Thursday inaugurated the Ayush Holistic Wellness Center in the Supreme Court complex. The event was attended by AYUSH Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of State in the Ministry of AYUSH Mahendra Munjapara and Professor (Dr) Tanuja Nesari, Director of All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA).

This facility has been set up under the aegis of Ministry of AYUSH with the active participation of ALIA.

The Ayush Holistic Wellness Center in the Supreme Court Complex is a state-of-the-art facility that provides holistic care addressing physical, mental and emotional well-being, promoting the overall health of the Judges and staff of the Supreme Court of India.

On this occasion, an MoU was also signed between the Supreme Court and the All India Institute of Ayurveda regarding the establishment, operation of AYUSH Holistic Wellness Center and providing specialist services.

The CJI said it is important to consider the overall lifestyle not only for the judges and their immediate families, but also for the staff members.

“Our Supreme Court has more than 2000 employees, including our colleagues, all 34 judges, who endure tremendous stress in their daily work, leading to a huge load of files. I believe that only “It is important to consider the overall lifestyle, not only for the judges and their immediate families, but also for the staff members. Through them, we can propagate this message to the rest of the country,” he Said.

On opening of AYUSH center in the apex court complex, the CJI said that he is concerned about the more than 2000 staff members of the Supreme Court, as they do not get the same facilities as the judges.

“I want them to have a holistic pattern of life… I want to thank Minister Sarbananda Sonowal,” the CJI said.

“On the benefits of traditional Ayurveda, I am very grateful to all the doctors and AYUSH. They have a wonderful facility in Saket, and now we are bringing it to the Supreme Court. Every doctor who contributed to it prepared it scientifically The facility is there. We are presenting it before the Supreme Court and through it the entire country.”
