It’s that time of year again when the shopping aisles are packed with families, overloaded trolleys and children begging for chocolate Santa in the sweet aisles.

For those who haven’t written their shopping list yet, or are hoping for a last-minute chance to run to the shops to pick up Brussels sprouts, it might be worth checking your local Supermarket As we approach opening time Christmas Day.

Most major supermarkets will change their trading hours from Christmas Eve, but with variations within chains as well as between larger and smaller stores.

  • Christmas Evening: 6 AM to 7 PM (Express Store 7 AM to 10 PM)
  • Christmas Day: Closed
  • Boxing Day: 9am to 6pm (Express Stores 9am to 7pm)
  • New Year’s Eve: 6 AM to 7 PM (Express Store 7 AM to 10 PM)
  • New Year’s Day: 9 AM to 6 PM (Express Store 8 AM to 10 PM)

Sainsbury’s

  • Christmas Evening: 6 AM to 7 PM (Convenience Stores 6 AM to 9 PM)
  • Christmas Day: Closed
  • Boxing Day: 9am to 6pm (convenience stores 9am to 9pm)
