A tip brought officers to a home in Atlanta
Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Fair said the tip leading to Groves’ capture came through New Orleans CrimeStoppers, an anonymous reporting program. Groves was the only person in the home, and no one else was arrested.
But Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said it appeared several people helped Groves and that he could face charges for aiding and abetting.
After Groves was taken into custody, the garage door of the brick home collapsed from the inside and was closed by police. The home is located next to Tyler Perry Studios, one of the largest film production facilities in the country.
“Based on how long it took an experienced, well-trained SWAT team to take him out, he planned to hide out for a period of time,” Fair said.
In video provided by the Atlanta Police Department, shirtless, without shoes and wearing shackles around his wrists and ankles, Groves blew a kiss and then smiled at someone filming him as he was escorted to a police car.
Murrill said police also found a handgun and 15 pounds of marijuana inside the home.

Groves was booked into the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon. Jail records show he is charged with being a fugitive from justice.
Murrill said Groves is scheduled to appear in court Thursday for a hearing on his extradition to Louisiana.
