Comedian Ruby Wax and social media personality Engaging ate crickets, cockroaches, mealworms and an alligator’s anus during the first bushtucker test of this series. I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
Presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly oversaw ‘The Divey’, where Wax and Angering, real name Morgan Birtwistle, faced 10 rounds of jungle food, each involving a star and food for the camp.
First up was a Maya Jama-inspired dish called Cryer Jama, featuring a selection of giant cockroaches and mealworms, topped with dehydrated critters sprinkled by a ranger.
After eliminating five cockroaches and five mealworms to win a star and a meal for the camp, Birtwistle said: “If this is what we’re starting with, we’re in trouble.”
Wax was then added to a Timothée Chalamet-inspired dish called Grimothée Chalomet, a witchy grub topped with cricket croutons, which he finished.
Birtwistle later added Margot Goby, a bull’s tongue with fish-eye glaze, The Slime-On Kovel, six snails with a reduction of seaside insects, and Russell Tow, a camel’s toe with cockroach-laced smoke that left him red and nauseated, as he said: “It’s back in my mouth.”
He ended up with the worst of them all, Benedict Bum-Burbach, an anus of a crocodile. His eyes were watering and holding the sick bucket, he kept pushing back and only managed to put it down.
The wax was later followed by Ronan Titting, duck tongue coulis in a cow’s breast garnished with dame spew-dy dench, three vomits of fruit, one vomit with fruit juice, and Hugh Sackman, a pig’s testicle with fermented seaweed foam infusion.
As Vax struggled to eat it, she commented: “I think I’m pregnant.”
To finish, Vax ate The Knob Beckett, a bull penis with a sparkler on top. He was instructed to eat the tip and did so, earning him 10 out of 10 stars and making his companions happy.
In one challenge, model Kelly Brook and Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp competed in Dingo Balls. They had to answer a series of questions, shooting and selecting the correct answer by placing the number of colored balls in the ball corresponding to the number and color on the bingo board.
He was asked, “Which is the highest number, the number of films Kelly has starred in, or the number of UK top 40 singles by Spandau Ballet?”
He successfully guesses the Spandau Ballet and the camp is awarded chocolates as a prize.
TV personality Jack Osbourne talks to EastEnders actress Lisa Riley about the death of her father, Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne.
He said: “It was definitely a shock, I mean we knew he was ill for a while but it was definitely a shock, I mean we didn’t know it would happen so soon.
“It was the ultimate mic drop, he did a huge show and was like, OK, I’m done.”
Osbourne began to cry, and as Riley consoled her, Osbourne said: “He would be very supportive of it.”
Later in the Bush Telegraph he said: “I’m still watching it all, three, almost four months on, and so it’s still absolutely fresh.”
