Celebrity couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma on Tuesday announced that they have been blessed with a baby boy – Akay. Kohli and Anushka revealed that the baby was born on February 15. “With immense joy and hearts full of love, we are all happy to share that on February 15, we welcomed our baby boy Akay and Vamika’s little brother into this world! I seek your blessings and good wishes. We request you to respect our privacy at this time. Love and gratitude. Virat and Anushka,” the couple wrote in a social media message.

After the announcement, there has been a lot of curiosity about the unique and special name – Akaay. It is derived from the Hindi word ‘kaya’, which means ‘body’. Akaya means someone who is more than his physical body. Of Turkish origin, the word ‘Akay’ means ‘shining moon’.

The couple has not yet confirmed whether they thought about the origin of the word before naming the boy.

This child has already become quite popular on social media. Virat Kohli’s Instagram post received over five million likes in just over an hour.

After the news was announced, fans and members of the film industry and cricket world flooded the comments section with wishes. Actor Ranveer Singh posted a series of ‘evil eye’ and heart emojis in the comments section. Actor Rakul Preet Singh wrote, “God bless.”

Virat and Anushka got married in Italy on 11 December 2017. The couple was blessed by Vamika on January 11, 2021. The couple remained tight-lipped about their second pregnancy.

However, recently former South Africa captain AB de Villiers revealed on his official YouTube channel that Kohli and Anushka were expecting their second child.

The former Proteas captain apologized to Kohli, saying he had made a “mistake” in his previous video.
“My friend Virat Kohli is still not available. I request everyone to give him the privacy he deserves. Family comes first. No one knows what is really going on.
