It means the 26-year-old Englishman has a 12-point advantage over Verstappen heading into the season-finale. Abu DhabiPiastri is 16 points behind his teammate.
So what does Norris need to win the title on Sunday?

Norris has opened up a 12-point lead over Verstappen, who is now in second place. Piastri is 16 points behind his teammate.
It’s a typical race weekend in Abu Dhabi. Therefore, Norris Will win the World Championships if he finishes on the podium At Yas Marina Circuit.
A minimum third-place finish (15 points) in Abu Dhabi would give Norris an unassailable lead of 27 points.
Fourth place (12 points) would give Norris a lead of 24 points and, thus, if Verstappen won the race, the Dutchman would take the title by one point.
Alternatively, Verstappen needs to score 13 more points than Norris. Twelve more points would level them, but unless Verstappen wins, they will both be tied on countback at seven wins each. It then drops to second place, where Norris has an advantage of eight compared to Verstappen’s five.
The work of Piyastri is even more difficult. He needs to get 16 or more points from Norris and four more than Verstappen.
If they are all level on points, it goes into countdown. As things stand, all three drivers have won seven races, but Norris has eight in second place, compared to five for Verstappen and four for Piastri.
