According to the ICC website, the West Indies on Tuesday broke a 34-year drought with a 202-run series-Klinching win in Pakistan in Trinidad.
Captain Shai Hope led Captain Shai Hope with an unbeaten innings of 120 to help the West Indies Post 294/6, and Pesar Jayden Seal collected six wickets in response as Pakistan was excluded for only 92 to win a 2–1 series of victory towards the house.
This was the winning of the West Indies’ first bilateral ODI series against Pakistan since November 1991 and will try to earn a place in the next edition of the Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2027 after missing on qualifying for the most recent tournament in India in 2027.
The West Indies looked in trouble when Gudkesh fell for scores at five and 184/6 in a thick 42nd over, but Hope and Justin Greaves (43 Not Out) combined well with some sublime late hitting to post a decent total at Brian Lara Stadium.
It was Hope’s 18th ODI of his career and took him to third place for the most day -old centuries by former Great Desmond Hens (17) and West Indies male player, with only Chris Gayle (25) and Brian Lara (19) ahead of him.
The seal then exploded through Pakistan’s top-order to leave visitors who left the visitors at 23/4, and the in-form right-armor returned to death to clean the tail with the West Indies bowler in the history of men’s ODI cricket with the third best figures (6/18) by the West Indies bowler.
It was also the fourth biggest win by the West Indies (by Run) in men’s ODI cricket, and Hope said that there was a lot of positivity to his side to take the match and series.
Hope said, “We had a whole game and I am very proud to beat Pakistan after so long.” We put a lot of emphasis on negative in the West Indies and there are many positive to shout about it and it was very good to see people pulling history. ,
Seal was postponed to the series player for his 10 wickets in all three matches, and Hope praised the young pacer.
Hope said, “Seal is a quality bowler … he is a class act. Anything you ask him to do, he puts his hands up. He is in his best forms.” (AI)
