Heavy rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala
The IMD has predicted light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places over Tamil Nadu till November 23, with heavy rainfall at isolated places during this period. Similar conditions are expected over Kerala and Mahe during the same period except on 21 November and over Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 20 to 22 November.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is likely over Tamil Nadu till November 21, Kerala and Mahe on November 18 and 19, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema till November 18 and Andaman and Nicobar Islands till November 23.
Mist or light fog in Delhi
The weather in Delhi is likely to be partly cloudy with mist or light fog in the morning. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 25-27 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be between 9-11 degrees Celsius.
On Monday, the maximum temperature of the national capital was recorded at 27.1°C and the minimum at 8.7°C. Air quality in Delhi remains a major concern, generally falling in the ‘severe’ or ‘very poor’ category.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the overall air quality index (AQI) of the capital was 346 (very poor) at 9 am on Tuesday.
Cold wave and cold day warning
Cold wave is expected to prevail in many areas of Central and Western India in the next few days. Notably, there is a high risk of severe cold wave conditions over West Madhya Pradesh on 18th and 19th November, with normal cold wave conditions reducing slightly over isolated areas on 20th and 21st November.
Concurrently, isolated parts of East Rajasthan and East Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience cold wave conditions from November 18 to 20.
Other affected areas include Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, Telangana and Madhya Maharashtra, which are likely to see cold wave on November 18 and 19, while cold wave conditions are particularly forecast for November 18 in Vidarbha.
According to the forecast, no significant change in minimum temperatures is expected over the plains of northwest India, central India, eastern India and northern part of Peninsular India for the next two days.
However, after this period, minimum temperatures over northwest, central and eastern India are likely to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog conditions are expected to affect Northeast India throughout the week.
